Pearpoint – CCTV drainage equipment from push-rod camera to crawler

A sewer is not assessed by feel, but by what the camera shows. In the CFT range Pearpoint stands for this chain: push-rod camera systems for the domestic drain, modular crawler cameras for the crawler-accessible pipe run, plus camera heads, sondes and skids.

Official dealer for Austria and southern Germany

CFT Group GmbH in Traiskirchen and CFT Group Deutschland GmbH, Lange Zeile 27, D-85435 Erding, are the official dealer for this brand in Austria and southern Germany. Sales and handling run through the group shop SEMPERDEAL: ordering and advice in German, no detour via a foreign distributor. The advantage shows itself less at the purchase than afterwards – anyone who needs to know which camera head fits which drum asks someone who has the same system in the vehicle: +43 (0) 2252 53169, Mon to Thu 8:00–16:30, Fri 8:00–12:00, or office@cft.at.

The Pearpoint range

Push-rod camera systems: from the domestic drain to 150 metres

The range is graded by push-rod length: P541 for the plumber 30 m, P541c 35 m, P542c 60 m and 120 m, P543c 150 m, with a 50 mm or a 25 mm camera head as required. The length decides how far you get without a second access point, the camera head diameter decides whether you get in at all. Drums with push rod and the P540 controller with built-in battery are listed separately; a system can be built up step by step.

Camera heads, skids and sondes

This is where a system becomes a usable tool. The 25 mm camera head (V4) goes in where the 50 mm self-levelling camera head (V3) has no room; in return the latter delivers an upright image that stays readable in the report. Skids are available for DN 40–60 up to DN 100–150, roller carriages for DN 100–150 and DN 200–300, plus the 25 mm Universal FlexiFeder for tight bends. Locating is done via the 25 mm 640 Hz SolidSonde or FlexiSondes in 25 and 35 mm.

Flexitrax P550c: the modular crawler camera system

Where the pipe run is crawler-accessible, the P550c Flexitrax modular crawler camera system takes over – a kit of parts instead of a fixed configuration. P354 crawler (non-steerable) or P356 crawler (steerable), and on it a fixed camera, a pan-and-tilt camera or one with a mechanical zoom, held by a fixed mount, a lift mount or a cradle attachment. The wheels are chosen to suit the nominal diameter: solid rubber wheels 62 and 110 mm, medium-hard wheels 84 mm or pneumatic wheels. In addition the P550c controller with joysticks and internal battery and a cable drum.

What lets an instrument survive the job

Wear in the sewer rarely hits the camera; it hits the trailing cable. For that there is pipe and manhole edge protection and a strain relief kit, plus roll-over protection, a crawler weight, an auxiliary light, a lift rod kit, a power supply unit, chargers and the Pearpoint equipment bag.

A sonde in the camera head is only of use with a receiver at the surface: we carry the locating receivers for it – RD7200 and RD8200 – under Radiodetection. If the pipe run becomes too narrow for a 25 mm head, we reach for the MiniFlex2 with a 19.5 mm camera head from CamTronics.

What these instruments are used for

Our CCTV drainage survey for sewers and pipes runs pipe runs from DN 100 to DN 1200; the defect is documented, located via the sonde in the camera head and marked at the surface. Often the drain and pipe cleaning comes first, because a condition grading made over deposits is worth nothing. The 3D lateral survey supplements the main run, the spring main survey brings the same technology under drinking water conditions. That is why we know the details: which camera head gets stuck in a bend, which wheels spin in wet vitrified clay.

On-site instruction and training

Pearpoint is expressly named on the training page as a brand for which CFT offers instrument instruction – directly at your premises, with your instrument in your surroundings. To go with it, the training programme offers the advanced module Electromagnetic pipe locating and sonde location: two hours, theory and practice, no more than five participants per trainer; the prerequisite is the basic module Cable and pipe locating. That is how a camera image becomes a mark on the road.

Service, repair and calibration

Pearpoint is held in CFT’s repair form as a manufacturer; repair, service and calibration can be selected. Register the case in advance: fill in the repair form, enclose it with the parcel or send it to support@semperdeal.com. With model, serial number, a description of the fault and photographs the diagnosis goes faster.

Frequently asked questions

Which push-rod length should I choose?

The length that suits your usual pipe runs: 30 to 35 metres for the domestic drain, 60 to 120 metres for the lateral sewer, 150 metres for longer sections. More cable means more weight and more pushing force in a bend.

Can I locate the camera from the surface?

Yes, via the sonde in the camera head: SolidSonde 25 mm and FlexiSondes in 25 mm and 35 mm at 640 Hz. For this you need a locating receiver that can receive this sonde frequency – from our own range the RD7200 and RD8200 receivers from Radiodetection, which we put together to match your sonde straight away. How this works is described under pipe and utility detection.

Can I retrofit an existing Flexitrax?

That is the point of the modular design: crawler, camera, mount, wheels and drum are listed separately. Tell us the system generation and serial number so that the combination is checked before the order.

Can I get wearing parts and spare parts separately?

Yes: edge protection, strain relief kit, wheel sets, drums, data cables and chargers are in the range as separate items.

Are Pearpoint systems available for hire or second-hand?

No Pearpoint hire item is listed in the shop. We will show you the handling in any case as part of the on-site instruction.
