Radiodetection locating equipment at CFT

Radiodetection builds the transmitter-and-receiver systems with which the route of pipes and cables is traced from the surface – from the cable locator for the construction site to the receiver that puts coordinates on the located point straight away. At CFT these instruments sit in the vehicles with which we locate, carry out clearance surveys and survey in.

Official dealer for Austria and southern Germany

CFT Group GmbH in Traiskirchen and CFT Group Deutschland GmbH, Lange Zeile 27 in D-85435 Erding, carry Radiodetection as the official dealer for Austria and southern Germany. You order domestically, in German, from a contact who operates the instrument himself – no detour via a foreign distributor. Order, delivery and invoice run through the group shop SEMPERDEAL, advice and service through CFT, reachable on +43 (0) 2252 53169 (Traiskirchen) and +49 (0) 173 6842932 (Erding), in each case Mon to Thu 8:00–16:30, Fri 8:00–12:00.

The Radiodetection range

Cable locators for the construction site

They answer one question quickly: is there anything here, before the excavator starts? They include the C.A.T4, the C.A.T4+ and the C.A.T4+ with StrikeAlert and carrying bag, plus the Genny4 transmitter when it is not only live cables that have to be shown.

Precision locating with transmitter and receiver

Where the exact route, the depth and branches are at issue, the RD7200 and RD8200 are used. The RD8200G brings a GPS function with it, the RD8200SG also works as a GPS rover and can be connected to PointMan Plus. Receiver clamps in 50, 100 and 130 mm and the A-frame sheath fault locator extend the receiver for special cases.

Sondes for non-metallic pipes

A plastic pipe carries no signal, so what is inside the pipe does the transmitting: the u-LOCATE instruments together with the cable and pipe locating set, the Microsonde S6 33 kHz and the FlexiSonde Ø4.5 in 50 m and 80 m.

Acoustic pipe locating and pressurised mains

Where nothing couples electromagnetically, sound helps: the RD510 acoustic pipe locating receiver (ground microphone) with the pulsed RD510-TX generator, which is available as a Transonde for 4 bar and 10 bar.

Cable faults, markers and special tasks

For fault location the LEXXI T1660 and 1205CXB time domain reflectometers are available with connection sets in 50 and 75 ohms, plus the MRX Marker Locator, the RD312 metal detector and the PCMx Pipeline Current Mapper with 25 W transmitter and receiver including magnetometer foot.

What these instruments are used for

Radiodetection builds transmitter and receiver systems, sondes and time domain reflectometry for pipe and cable locating. In pipe and utility detection we follow routes with these receivers and mark them; in site and route utility clearance surveys they secure the area before excavation. For the cable and pipe utility asset record the GPS-capable instruments supply the points of the data set; in cable fault location on service and supply cables, on telecoms, data and cable TV lines and on low- and medium-voltage cables we work with time domain reflectometry and a sheath fault locator. What you get is therefore not a data sheet answer, but the answer to which instrument will carry your job.

On-site instruction and training

CFT gives on-site instruction on every electrical instrument bought from us, Radiodetection expressly included: our team comes to you and introduces the operation in a practical way. In addition there is a training programme with two basic modules and further modules building on them. The basic module Basic techniques of cable and pipe locating lasts two hours and is designed for up to 30 participants per trainer; on it build the advanced modules Electromagnetic pipe locating and sonde location and Electromagnetic cable locating, two hours of theory and practice each with no more than five participants per trainer. Time domain reflectometry (TDR), by contrast, requires the basic module Basic techniques of cable fault location – three hours, no more than ten participants per trainer; the TDR advanced module itself lasts two hours, again with no more than five participants per trainer.

Service, repair and calibration

Repair, service and calibration run through our own repair department. Register the instrument in advance: fill in the repair form and enclose it with the parcel, or send it digitally in advance to support@semperdeal.com. Manufacturer, model, serial number and a description of the fault are enough; photographs may be enclosed.

Frequently asked questions

C.A.T4 or RD8200 – which suits my work?

The C.A.T4 range is the tool for prelocation, intended as protection against damage while digging. The RD8200 range is a measuring instrument for determining the route precisely. If you only need to know whether something is there, the C.A.T4 is right; if you document the route, the RD7200 or RD8200.

What is the difference between the RD8200G and the RD8200SG?

The RD8200G is the cable and pipe locator with a GPS function; the RD8200SG also works as a GPS rover and can be paired with PointMan Plus. For locating followed by as-built records, the SG saves the detour via a subsequent survey.

Can I hire instruments instead of buying them?

Yes. The shop lists the complete C.A.T4+ set with Genny4 and the complete RD8XXX set with Tx10 for hire – for a single construction phase, for instance.

Can I still get accessories for the RD7000 and RD8000?

Yes. For the older receivers the shop carries a rucksack and bag for the RD7000, RD7100, RD8000 and RD8100, plus connection sets for the T1, TX-1, TX-5 and TX-10 transmitters that remain in use with these instruments. From the current accessories, batteries for the Microsonde S6, Minisonde S9 and Superkleinsonde S13, Li-ion battery packs, battery holders and the sonde spring joint with M10 thread fit, among others.
