Leak detection
Structural drying after water damage in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland
After water damage there is one question at the outset: where is the water coming from. That is exactly our task. We locate the cause non-destructively, mark the point and set the finding down in writing. The drying itself we do not carry out – nor do we accompany it with measurements, a concept or a verification. If you wish, we will refer you on in the course of the locating to a partner firm that takes on the drying. Describe the damage on +43 (0) 2252 53169 or in writing to office@cft.at, and we will settle the locating and the appointment.
What we do on site
What comes from us is the determination of the damage: we locate the cause non-destructively, mark the point and set the finding down in writing. We do not carry out the drying and we do not supervise it either. If you wish, we will pass you on in the course of the leak detection or the water damage investigation to a partner firm that takes on the drying; everything further you settle directly with them.

What this means for you
As long as the source is running, every hour of drying is wasted energy. That is why the locating comes at the beginning and not at the end: only once the point has been established and can be shut off does drying make any sense at all. What you get from us is the finding on that – where the cause lies, on which building element it sits and what has been documented. With it you can deal with your insurer and appoint the drying contractor.
How the drying is carried out, how long it takes and what the final condition is measured against is decided and answered for by the firm that supplies the equipment. We make no statement on that. What we can do is establish the connection.
How the job runs
1. Locating the cause. We narrow the area down and determine the point at which the water is escaping. Measuring is done from the outside; opening up happens only once the point has been established.
2. Marking and finding. The point is marked on the building element and the finding is set down as a photographic report – ready to be put before the insurer and the contractor carrying out the work.
3. Referral, if you wish. On request we make contact for you, in the course of the leak detection or the water damage investigation, with a partner firm that carries out drying. That is an offer, not a condition – you can appoint a firm yourself at any time.
4. Everything further directly with the drying contractor. Equipment, procedure, duration, measurements and the evidence of the dryness reached lie with that firm. We are not involved in that.
What you receive
From us you receive the photographic report with the description of the damage and the marking of the point found on the building element. What the drying contractor supplies by way of records and evidence is for you to agree with him; that is not part of our scope of work.

Frequently asked questions
Do you carry out the drying yourselves?
No. We locate the cause and document it. Providing equipment, drying, measuring the progress and evidencing the final condition are not part of our scope of work.
Can you say how long the drying takes?
No. That depends on the build-up, the degree of saturation and the room climate and only emerges as the work goes on – and it lies with the drying contractor. A figure from us would be guesswork.
Whom do you refer people to?
We work together with a partner firm and make contact on request. You are not bound to it and can appoint any other firm.
Does the cause have to be found before the drying?
In our view yes: as long as water keeps running in, every drying works against it. That is why the locating is the first step.
